About GambleDragon — Independent iGaming Review Hub

GambleDragon is an independent iGaming review hub run by experienced gambling-industry researchers. We test online casinos so you do not have to take a marketing page at face value. Every operator we cover is deposit-tested, withdrawal-tested, and licence-verified before we publish a rating.

We launched in 2026 after years of watching readers get burned by sites that recycle press releases, hide their affiliate disclosure, and rate every casino “9 out of 10.” That is not a review — that is a brochure.

What makes us different

Most affiliate sites have three problems:

  1. No methodology. Ratings appear out of thin air, with no datapoints behind them.
  2. No real testing. “Fast withdrawals” is written without ever timing one.
  3. No accountability. When a casino freezes a player’s account, the site shrugs.

We do the opposite:

  • Published methodology. Every rating is broken down into 12 datapoints — licence, payout speed, payment options, support response, T&Cs readability, RTP transparency, complaint handling, deposit limits, self-exclusion paths, KYC duration, mobile UX, and game variety. See our methodology.
  • Hands-on testing. We open accounts, deposit small amounts (typically £20-50), play a representative sample of games, request a withdrawal, and time it. We do this every time, not once a year.
  • Independent dispute support. When a reader is stuck with a frozen account or a missing payout, we contact the casino on their behalf. We do not get paid more if it works out — we do it because somebody should.

Who runs GambleDragon

The site is led by Tom Ashby, a gambling-industry researcher with eight years covering online casino licensing, payment-processor relationships, and player-dispute mediation.

Tom previously contributed to operator audit reports for two European affiliate networks (covering UKGC, MGA, and Curaçao-licensed brands) and holds a certificate in responsible-gambling intervention from a recognised UK provider. He has personally deposit-tested over 140 online casinos and timed more than 320 withdrawals across UK, Irish, Canadian, and New Zealand markets.

Tom is supported by a small editorial team plus external compliance review before publication. Every page lists the author and the last verification date. If a fact is out of date, that is a process failure — please tell us at editor@gambledragon.com and we will fix it within 48 hours.

Our editorial principles

  1. Numbers before adjectives. “97.6% RTP” beats “high RTP.” “4.2 hour median withdrawal across eight tests” beats “fast cashouts.”
  2. Cite, do not claim. Every licence number links to the regulator’s public database. Every game RTP links to the provider’s official RTP sheet where available.
  3. Acknowledge risk on every bonus. If a welcome offer has 35x wagering, we show you the £-by-£ maths, not the marketing percentage.
  4. No fake urgency. You will never see “limited time” or “expires today” on this site. Bonuses change; you can come back tomorrow.
  5. Affiliate disclosure on every page. We earn commission when you sign up via our tracked links. That commission does not buy a higher rating — and we publish the operators that pay us the most alongside the operators that pay us nothing.

Who funds us

We are reader-supported through affiliate commissions. When you click a “Visit casino” button and register, the operator pays us a referral fee. The fee is identical regardless of how we rate the operator, and we routinely list operators that pay below-market rates because they treat players well. Several brands have asked to be moved up in our rankings in exchange for higher commissions; we have declined every time.

See our full affiliate disclosure for details.

What we do not do

  • We are not a casino. We operate no games and hold no player funds.
  • We are not a sportsbook. Same.
  • We are not a tipster service. We do not predict outcomes; we evaluate operators.
  • We are not a marketing channel disguised as journalism. If you cannot tell whether a site is reviewing or advertising, it is advertising.

How to use this site

  • Looking for the safest UK casino right now? Start with our best UK casinos list — every operator there has passed all 12 methodology checks.
  • Curious whether a specific brand is legit? Use the site search; if we have a deep review, it includes the licence number and the last withdrawal-test date.
  • New to online casinos? Read responsible gambling first. Set your deposit limit before your first deposit, not after.
